When and where are games?
Games for Canada Bay Cannons are played on Sundays. There may be the opportunity for a Friday night game under lights once or twice a season. Game times will vary, depending on your age group and the home club you are playing.
Our home grounds are St Luke’s Oval at Concord and Drummoyne Oval at Drummoyne but we play ‘home and away’ and games are held all over Sydney.
When and where is training?
Our Cannons teams generally train at St Luke’s Oval in Concord. The best entrance is via Crane Street.
Training is held on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays, depending on your age group.
Training times are staggered, and will depend on your age group.
What is included in my rego?
The Cannons provide all new players with shorts and socks and a training t-shirt (to keep). All players are provided with a game day jumper, which is returned to the club.
As Cannons grow out of their shorts and socks (or if they require a second set), they can purchase new ones for a heavily subsidised price of $10 each.
Your registration also covers all umpire payments, affiliation fees and ground fees.
What else do I need?
Players need footy boots and a mouthguard.
When is the AFL season?
We start pre-season training on an occasional basis in late January/early February. These are fun fitness sessions and not compulsory.
Pre-season training usually starts at St Luke’s Oval in mid to late February.
The season usually runs from April until August, finishing with finals in September.
Can I join mid-season?
Perhaps. It depends on whether the team roster is full. Contact us, with your player’s date of birth and if there’s room in the team, we’d love to have them.
Who runs the Club?
The Canada Bay Cannons is a joint venture alliance between Drummoyne Power Junior AFL and Concord GIANTS AFL.
The Club Alliance was established in 2013. By combining forces, the neighbouring clubs aimed to provide strong performance and participation options for all players and families in Sydney’s inner west.
Players register with their home club, and remain members of either Drummoyne Power or Concord Giants, but play in a unique jersey combining both sets of Club colours: Teal and Black for Drummoyne Power and Orange and Grey for Concord Giants.
The Cannons Board is made up of representatives of both Clubs and parents of both Clubs are actively engaged as volunteers.

What about Auskick and Junior footy (U5-U11)?
The Cannons are part of a club alliance with junior clubs Concord Giants and Drummoyne Power. Both of these clubs offer mixed teams for boys and girls from U5-U11. Players automatically become Cannons when they reach the relevant age groups.
