Volunteering for the Canada Bay Cannons

We’re a club run by volunteer parents who just want to give our kids the opportunity to play AFL. We’re all juggling work and family commitments, but we do it to be involved in something our kids love, but also because volunteering can be a hugely rewarding opportunity to be part of a COMMUNITY.

We need all parents to volunteer for SOMETHING. That might be a formal team or club role… and if you want to be involved at that level, come talk to us – quick!

All parents will be asked to contribute throughout the season. It may be as simple as cutting oranges, it could be staffing the canteen, cooking snags at the BBQ, setting up and packing away. These duties shouldn’t be too onerous – and can be fun.

Our most urgent need is for Sunday Canteen coordinators for both St Luke’s Oval and Drummoyne Oval. Our most urgent need is for Canteen Supervisors.

The canteen accounts for about one third of our revenue, so it is of more importance than just feeding hungry footballers after a match. If that revenue stream is compromised through lack of volunteers, registration fees will rise. You won’t have to do any ordering (that will be done by the junior clubs) and it is not a difficult job. Please contact us, if this is a role you can take on.

We need special help for:

First Aid – do you have a First Aid certificate? Would you like to get one at the Club’s expense? We need qualified first aid officials at every game. Ideally, every team should have a designated first aid officer.
Ground Management – can you spare a few hours on home ground days to go onto the ground management team?
Early morning setup – What could be better than getting to the ground early to set up the fields? You get the best part of the morning (and the best car park); you work with a friendly crew to set up the ground for the kids… and the coffee’s on us.
End of day pack-up – all that equipment needs to go back in the sheds. Parents and players involved in the last game of the day are expected to assist with pack up.
