U13-3 Cannons: Round 4 Match Report

Canada Bay Cannons U13-3 v Ramsgate-Cronulla

Round 4

Match report via John

Last Sunday, in balmy conditions our Cannons endured a tough hit out against a very formidable and well drilled Ramsgate-Cronulla team.

While the scoreboard showed  a convincing win to the opponents, our boys hung in there and never stopped trying.

The first quarter saw the visitors get the jump on us, establish a big lead and we weren’t able to recover.

At the break Coach Andrew gave the boys a good old fashion rev up, asking them to focus on marking up. This did the trick as the boys stemmed the flow of goals throughout the 2nd and 3rd quarters and made the Rams earn their points.

The 4th quarter saw Ramsgate-Cronulla extend their lead. As hard as they tried, our boys ran out of juice towards the end of the game.

While were were simply outclassed, the boys can hold their heads high – despite the lopsided result, the Cannons never gave up. Our boys took on the competition leaders and give it their best shot.

Our backline was under pressure throughout the game and worked hard. There were some good passages of footy from the Cannons. Deserving of particular mention is when Jamie pulled off a great tackle and Chris tapped the loose ball onto Harry who got the ball to Rohan, who was desperately unlucky not to have got the Sherrin through for a goal.

Coaches pick for best on ground went to Chris H, who tackled his heart out, for his nonstop effort. Oliver R, picked up the runner up award. Oliver was another who never gave up the chase and ran hard all day.

Also a special thank you to Alex, who backed up from the under 12-3s and had a good game.
